- 85% of the total U.S. resident population gains for the year are in the South region
- High-cost states like New York, Illinois and California saw the largest decrease in population and low-tax, business-friendly states like Texas, Florida and Arizona saw the largest gains
- As a percentage of population, Idaho, Arizona and Nevada experienced the largest increase in population
